Target audience

Target audience of the journal are researchers and academics involved in language research, language teaching, and in the development of tools for language and speech processing. The main research area of empirical and corpus studies is the Slovene language, whereas interdisciplinary and applied research can be more general (Slovene and/or English). Especially for the latter two research categories, the journal is open to publishing research of foreign authors that is not necessarily directly connected to Slovene.


The journal publishes articles on the following topics:

  • empirical language research: research of language and language description using empirical data
  • applied research: development of language applications, electronic and online language reference resources
  • interdisciplinary language research:
    • development of tools for language and speech processing
    • empirical sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic, textual, and discourse studies

Key words: corpus linguistics, applied linguistics, computational linguistics, natural language processing and speech synthesis, language applications, monolingual and bilingual lexicography, language teaching and learning, digital humanities and related topics

Language of contributions

Slovene and English: Articles can be submitted in English if (co-)authors are not Slovene. English can also be used by Slovene authors if the topic is of interest to international audience and is only partially connected with the Slovene language. The editorial board makes the decision on case to case basis. Contributions in Slovene have a longer summary in English, and vice versa.

II. Responses to papers, publications, research findings.

III. Reports on conferences, workshops, research findings, language-related products: applications, tools …


The journal publishes two issues per year (4-6 articles + 2-3 responses or reports) and one special issue (optional), dedicated to a particular topic;  the editors can be members of the editorial board, or external experts.


Presently, the journal published articles of 81 authors affiliated to 29 different institutions from 10 countries.
